My life as a design leader and professional

  • 2007:

    Started a Business

    Started my own design business creating wedding invitations and doing work for small businesses to help with their design needs.

  • 2010:

    Graduation + Internship

    Graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a BA in Graphic Design.

    After graduation, I interned at Charleston Magazine where I was promoted within the first month to Senior Art Intern. I oversaw the entire team of interns and was the liaison between the Art Directors and the intern team for all projects.

  • 2012:

    Joined a Tech Startup

    Moved into the software industry by joining a small tech startup in Charleston, SC as their sole graphic designer. Got promoted to Product Designer after 6 months and was designing websites, applications, and all marketing and social projects for the company.

  • 2021:

    Lead Product Designer

    After a decade with the same company, I made my way through various positions. Everything from Product Designer to Brand Manager to Creative Director and finally to Product Design Lead. Throughout each position, UI/UX design was a huge part of my work. And throughout the years, I’ve managed small teams of designers and marketers to help with various projects as they came along. Due to the small nature of our business, there was always an ebb and flow and I have remained the sole designer for all areas of the business to this day. I work closely with the development team to create and implement design mockups through design reviews and front-end development.

  • 2022:

    Lead Product Designer

    Switched jobs and industries to join a team in the healthcare field that was struggling to move its product forward. Their enterprise software needed help with design and functionality, amongst other business objectives. The existing team was comprised of two graphic designers and one product designer, and I stepped in as the Lead Product Designer to help manage the team, create workflows and processes, establish pain points, and help move the products forward.

  • 2023:

    Lead Product Designer

    Returned to the team at Lyrasis to dive back into the Product Design Lead role at a higher level and bigger scale. Took on more projects for other divisions within the company and created clear parameters and workflows cross-functionally. Continue to grow our software offering and upgrade existing designs, workflows, and processes.

What I bring to the table

I’m extremely detail-oriented and organized in everything I do. I bring the utmost care to my work and love collaborating with others. I find that open communication and transparency in design and business leads to more trust and better work from everyone involved.

I’m supportive, empathetic, hard-working, inspirational, and creative and I love working with teams who are passionate about the work they’re doing. I’m dedicated to learning and improving my knowledge of design, business, development, and beyond to be the best leader and peer I can be.

How I operate

I work well in structured, agile environments where there’s open communication and collaborativeness between teammates while also keeping the ability to work solo when needed.

I’m flexible; able to shift gears and take on projects as needed to push the business goals forward and complete tasks in a timely manner.

I’m personable. I love working with others and meeting new people in both a business and personal setting.
